Modern film noir classic They Bleed at Midnight has been officially selected as part of the film competition in the first film noir festival in Gisors, France this December.
The director of the film, Karen Ruiz, will be in attendance. Along with Sofia Coppola, Sarah Polley and Ava DuVernay, Ruiz is part of a group of exciting female directors who are boldly taking film in a new direction. She is a key voice in San Francisco's burgeoning film introspectif movement.
With a whip-smart screenplay by Colin Nasseri, They Bleed at Midnight has the intelligence and style of the great film noir of the 40s and 50s like Kiss Me Deadly and Out of the Past.
Already a favorite with art-houses and underground filmmakers in the U.S., this recognition by the Gisors board demonstrates that They Bleed At Midnight is gaining in popularity throughout Europe as well.
