The Art of Brewing at the Highest Level
What is it that Christopher Columbus and Salzburg’s Stiegl Brewery have in common? In 1492, both set out to realize their dreams. One by exploring the “New World”, the other by brewing the first Stiegl in the “Prewhaus bey dem Stieglein” (the “brewery house by the steps”) in the heart of the city.
Meanwhile, the Stiegl brewery has turned into Austria’s largest privately owned brewery. Yet, beer production still only takes place in one location, a part of the city called “Maxglan”, using mainly Austrian raw ingredients and, of course, best spring water from the local Untersberg mountain. On its actual site, the oldest part of the brewery houses Europe’s largest beer experience with all senses, the World of Brewing.
