Flos Olei, an annual olive oil event held in Rome and title of Marco Oreggia's annual publication, "Guide to the World of Extra Virgin Olive Oil", recently announced their list of the best olive oils for 2014.

Olive oils and their producers highlighted in the "The Best 20" section of the guide are recognized not only for their outstanding organoleptic qualities, but also for the high standards and dedication each farm demonstrates in producing a quality product, from production techniques to packaging and value.

A numeric score, labeled as “Farm Ranking”, is given to each farm featured in the guide from 80 (Good) to 100 (Really Excellent). The guide is meant to be a tool for the consumer to better understand the world of quality olive oil production.

Five of The Best 20 are currently available in the United States at OliveOilLovers.com:

Quattrociocchi’s “Olivastro”, pressed from single-variety Itrana olives grown in the Lazio region of Italy, was awarded the prize for “Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Organic Farming” for a second consecutive year and received a Farm Ranking of 98 (Really Excellent).
