Beer lovers and connoisseurs visiting the Hermann Missouri area will be pleasantly surprised by the newest brewing creation coming from 2nd Shift Brewing. Named “Manor House Saison,” in honor of Cedar Creek’s iconic white-columned state house, the beer will be an all-barrel fermented saison.
Built in the 1860’s, the Manor House, located between New Haven and Hermann Missouri, was a retreat for Steve Crider, the owner of 2nd Shift Brewing, during his days as a home brewer. Later, when his passion became his profession, opening his brewery at Cedar Creek was a natural step.
“How many people can say that they own a brewery in an authentic Western Town?” asked Crider. Located in the Saloon of an old Hollywood movie set, Cedar Creek’s Western Town is quite unique, just like the unique hops pairings of 2nd Shift.
Opened in 2010, 2nd Shift’s reputation has preceded their name in part to Crider’s specialized “dry hopping” brewing method. Dry hopping refers to the process of adding aroma hops during fermentation to release additional fragile aromatic oils that are normally lost in the boiling process. The end result is a fragrant and robust hop flavor that is highly coveted by beer drinkers.
